Stanley Heckadon-Moreno

Stanley is an anthropologist who worked with indigenous communities in Panama during the 1970s and 1980s. This work lead to his important realisation of how much the river depends on the forest, and thus the creation of Panama’s National Parks. Protecting the forests in the headwaters of the Chagres River meant that the canal remained functional.
